Madison Cornwell is a second year student majoring in Biochemistry and Spanish. She is a EUREKA intern through the California NanoSystems Institute and the Resident Assistant of the Women in Science and Technology House in Manzanita Village. She will be working closely with Dr. Kosik and graduate student Israel Hernandez for the remainder of her time at UCSB.

Mandy is a second year student majoring in aquatic sciences. She is having fun exploring whatever fields pique her interest but eventually hopes for a career studying animal behavior in response to climate change for NOAA.

Nathaniel Scheidemen is a fourth year student majoring in Sociology and minoring in LGBTQ Studies. He is interested in gender and sexuality and is working with Dr. Beth Schneider in Sociology and the McNair Scholars program. His research focuses on the division of childcare labor in gay male partnerships.

Nicole Perez is a third year student majoring in Sociology and Chicana/o Studies. She is interested in mixed race identity and is working with Professor Reginald Daniel in sociology and the McNair Scholars program. Her research focuses on the moment where an individual experienced an “awakened” identity and adopted a multiracial one.

Paul Weitekamp is a second year physics major studying nano-structures of DNA. His interests include nanotechnology, integrated circuits, acoustics, neural networks, and computer science.

Zoe Swank is a third year student majoring in biochemistry. She is interested in evolution and ecology as well, and how it is linked to the biochemistry in different organisms. She will be working with RNA nanoparticle programming and assembly in Professor Jaeger’s lab.
